Sue began showing dogs in 1974. Her original breed was afghans, but along the way, she has also owned and bred greyhounds and whippets. Sue met Francis Broadway (Odi et Amo) in 1975 and they struck up a friendship. Sue co-bred her first saluki litter with Francis in 1985, adding her Elessar kennel name to Francis' Odi et Amo. Through dog shows, Sue met another saluki breeder, Bill Flynn (Silvershadow), who she married. Sue has also co-bred litters with Bill under his Silvershadow prefix.

Sue began painting when inspiration struck and she painted a watercolor of her friend Sharon Wilson's Kai.
