Many times, a car’s exhaust is a part that gets neglected. We are typically more concerned with the brakes being in top-notch shape, and any little kink that may be disturbing the efficiency of steering. Just about any minor inconvenience can put a driver in a foul mood. The exhaust system however, sitting all the way in the back of the car, does not get enough attention – considering that a good exhaust system can alleviate a lot of frustration and financial pressure. Exhausts have a very important job to do, and can have quite the effect on your car; understanding its purpose will help you refine your personal interests in it, and perhaps even help you target a better, more efficient system to consider installing.
The main purpose of the exhaust system is to rid the car of any waste gases that are being produced by the combustion engine. Some of these gases include carbon monoxide and other toxic chemicals, which can potentially be quite harmful if not properly removed from the car. A typical, basic car exhaust will simply consist of a pipe that carries out these waste products from where they are produced in the engine, all the way to the rear of the car where they will then be ejected. This keeps the passengers save from any poison-related health risks, and allows the car to function properly. Changing the exhaust can give your engine a completely different sound. Some drivers prefer changing out their stock exhausts for high performance exhausts, providing them with a variety of different benefits – some aesthetic, and some practical. The most notable benefits of having a great exhaust system would be the increase in horsepower and torque; financially speaking, fuel efficiency tends to increase as well with a proper exhaust system.
